Ambassador of Uzbekistan Otabek Akbarov met with the Head of the Directorate of International Relations and European Union of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sports, George Kalamantis, in Athens.

George Kalamantis supported proposals to further enhance cultural and humanitarian cooperation, promote people’s diplomacy, including by intensifying dialogue and interaction between the “Greece – Uzbekistan” Society, the “Uzbekistan – Greece” Society and the Center for Greek Culture in Tashkent.

The parties exchanged views on holding Uzbek Culture Days in Greece and Greece Culture Days in Uzbekistan, with an emphasis on contemporary art and the organization of digital exhibitions.

The Ambassador invited Greek cinematographers as special guests to take part in the XIV Tashkent International Film Festival “Pearl of the Silk Road”, which will be held on September 14-18 in Tashkent, Samarkand and all regions of the country.

During the film festival, it is planned to organize a film screening of Greece with a special program of films, as well as master classes, creative and educational meetings.

The parties also discussed the proposal to hold Uzbek Cinema Week in Greece.
