Tashkent hosted a roundtable discussion on “Deepening the Uzbek-French Partnership and Cultural Asia – EU Connectivity: Security, Economic and Political Dimensions” with the assistance of the Institute for Advanced International Studies (IAIS), the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED), and the Embassy of France in Uzbekistan.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Uzbekistan, Ms. Aurelia Bouchez, experts from the Center for European and Eurasian Studies, the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies, the International Institute for Central Asia, the Center for Foreign Policy Studies and International Initiatives, the Center for Progressive Reforms, Institute of Macroeconomic and Regional Studies, professors, teachers, students and doctoral students of UWED, as well as representatives of other research institutions, attended the event, organized as part of an initiative aimed at developing academic dialogue and international cooperation.
First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, UWED Rector Sodiq Safoyev, stressed the increasing strategic importance of cooperation between Uzbekistan and France against the backdrop of developing relations between Central Asia and the European Union. It was noted that in the context of the changing global situation, ensuring inter-regional security, economic integration, and the development of political dialogue are of common interest.
Expert reports on the topic were heard.
The discussions covered foreign policy, water diplomacy, regional security, and infrastructural connectivity issues.
Mr. Safoyev noted the importance of forming such stable discussion spaces and expressed gratitude to the Embassy of France for its long-term cooperation with the UWED.
Following the event, all participants unanimously expressed their opinion on strengthening more stable political and economic relations on the Eurasian continent.
