The International Forum “Uzbekistan and the UN: Cooperation to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals” on the occasion of the 75th Anniversary of the signing of the UN Charter was held via videoconference.

On June 26, 2020, the International Forum “Uzbekistan and the UN: Cooperation to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals” on the occasion of the 75th Anniversary of the signing of the UN Charter was held via videoconference.

The event was organized by the National Center for Human Rights, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the UN Permanent Mission in Uzbekistan.

In his speech, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov noted that this event is a testament to Uzbekistan’s strong commitment to multilateral cooperation with the UN and its specialized agencies.

According to the Minister, the current global crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and affecting the lives of millions of people around the world, confirmed the importance of uniting the efforts of the entire world community to counteract the serious consequences of the spread of coronavirus in healthcare and socio-economic development.

In these circumstances, the UN leadership and its specialized agencies, programs and funds in responding to the pandemic and providing assistance has once again demonstrated the effectiveness of multilateralism.

The Minister stated that the 28-year constructive cooperation of Uzbekistan with the UN was full of significant events.
