Guests became familiar with the exhibition of national silk products, a mulberry plantation, where 11 species of mulberry are grown, and informed about the peculiarities of their cultivation.

“Sericulture has a two-thousand-year history. This is an industry that does not have any waste”, Chairman of Uzbekipaksanoat Association Bakhrom Sharipov said. – Uzbekistan ranks third in terms of exports of these products after China and India. In Uzbekistan, 56 thousand hectares have been allocated free of charge for the development of this sphere. About 1 million people are engaged in permanent and seasonal work on these lands. 90% of women from remote areas work in the industry. Silk is not only fabric, it is also widely used in surgery, cosmetology. Bulletproof vests, military uniforms, parachutes, tents are also made from silkworm products.

It was noted that the Association has 76 enterprises that belong to the private sector, including more than 20 of them with the participation of foreign investors.
