The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Malaysia is actively working on increasing the tourist flow to Uzbekistan. In particular, cooperation with leading mass media is being established to promote the tourism potential of the country in Malaysia. In this regard, representatives of Uzbekistan met with the General Director of TV Alhijrah Izelan Basar.

In this regard, representatives of Uzbekistan met with the General Director of TV Alhijrah Izelan Basar.

TV Alhijrah is a state-owned free-to-air television network of Malaysia. The main goal of the channel is promotion and development of Islamic culture and values in Malaysia and abroad.

At the meeting, the foreign party got acquainted with the reforms carried out in Uzbekistan, modernization and expansion of infrastructure in tourism industry. The sides also discussed prospects for development of bilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and Malaysia. The adoption of a number of large-scale targeted programs aimed at development of tourism industry of Uzbekistan, as well as creation of unique segments of tourism services in such cities as Tashkent, Bukhara, Khiva, Shakhrisabz and others were noted.

Particular interest of the Malaysian side was caused by the rich cultural and historical heritage of the country and the potential of the country’s regions on development of Ziyorat (pilgrimage) tourism for Malaysians, interested in visiting historical monuments of Islam on the territory of Uzbekistan.

During the negotiations, an agreement was reached on broadcasting of video clips, handed over by the Embassy, about Uzbekistan on Alhijrah TV channel in prime time.

Izelan Basar offered to organize a visit of TV Alhijrah film crew to Uzbekistan in order to shoot a documentary about the cultural, historical and architectural heritage of the country, as well as a series of films about the mausoleums of Al-Bukhari, Bahauddin Naqshband and Al-Hakim at-Termizi and religious educational institutions and madrassas of Uzbekistan.

Following the meeting, the General Director of TV Alhijrah offered to conclude an agreement between the National Television and Radio Company of Uzbekistan and Alhijrah Media Corporation in the sphere of data exchange and airtime.
