Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva met with the Ambassador of the European Union to Uzbekistan, Ms. Charlotte Adriaen.
At the meeting, special attention was paid to expanding the use of parliaments’ capabilities in raising cooperation between Uzbekistan and EU countries to a new level. In this regard, the importance of the dialogue organized within the framework of the European Union – Uzbekistan Parliamentary Cooperation Committee was noted.
Views were exchanged on the progress of the “Inter Pares” project – “Cooperation of Parliaments”. This project is a global program of the European Union to strengthen parliamentarism, which is implemented by the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA) with expert support from the parliaments of EU partner countries.

The parties discussed the priority aspects of the effective implementation of the project and agreed on the tasks that need to be solved in the direction of each component of the practical dialogue, that is, financial control, gender equality issues, youth parliament, and e-parliament.
An agreement was reached to intensify relations with the European Union and its specialized departments in implementing joint projects and programs to support priority areas of regional cooperation, sustainable development, social support for the population, and achievement of the SDGs.
