Uzbekistan – EU: Cooperation is planned in digitalization, the development of a green economy and agriculture
18:07 / 2023-06-02

Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sherzod Kudbiyev received the EU Ambassador to Uzbekistan Charlotte Adriaen.

At the meeting, the parties noted that in recent years, cooperation had reached a new level, the practical reflection of which was the entry into force of the EU’s Generalised Scheme of Preferences Plus (GSP+).

At the meeting, the guests highly appreciated the great attention paid to ensuring macroeconomic stability and the government’s policy to increase the transparency and openness of the state budget. It should be noted that compliance with the latter condition is one of the most essential factors of cooperation for the EU.

The Government of Uzbekistan has developed and is implementing several strategies in the public financial management system. Foreign partners were provided with information on the ongoing work to ensure macroeconomic stability in the country and reduce inflation despite geopolitical crises on the world stage.

Views were exchanged on the possibilities of further cooperation and the provision of gratuitous financial support. The tasks that should be implemented in partnership with the European Union in digitalization, developing a green economy and agriculture have been defined.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on signing a tripartite memorandum between the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the EU Ambassador to Uzbekistan.
