Uzbekistan delegation visited Orenburg region of the Russian Federation, where a bilateral meeting on development of cooperation and implementation of joint projects between Russia and Uzbekistan was held at the Government House.

On September 25, 2018, the delegation of Uzbekistan visited Orenburg region of the Russian Federation, where a bilateral meeting on development of cooperation and implementation of joint projects between Russia and Uzbekistan was held at the Government House. The delegation included heads of subordinate organizations of the Ministry for Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Uztrade, “O’rta Osiyo Trans” (“Central Asia Trans”) JSCs and other agencies.

The meeting on “Development of cooperation and implementation of joint projects between Russia and Uzbekistan. Regional aspect” with participation of members of government, ministries and agencies of Orenburg region was held by the Governor of the region Yuri Berg.

According to the Governor, the last year was a breakthrough in relations of Orenburg region with partners in Uzbekistan. Political and business contacts are being established, dozens of meetings have been held, including, long-term cooperation agreements with Tashkent, Samarkand and Namangan regions are being worked out at the highest government level. 22 enterprises with participation of legal entities of the Republic of Uzbekistan are registered in Orenburg region. These joint ventures are engaged in wholesale trade of food, fruit and vegetable products, non-food consumer goods.

The sides discussed the possibility of creating a joint logistics hub – Wholesale Distribution Center (WDC) of fruits and vegetables in Orenburg region for further sale of Uzbekistan products throughout the Russian Federation.

The Governor of Orenburg region proposed the construction of WDC in Akbulak district, where there is an appropriate infrastructure (highway and railway station with a dead-end branch, gas pipeline and high-voltage transmission line).

The second round of negotiations through video conferencing with responsible experts of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation is planned for the next week.

On October 18-19, 2018, Presidents of Uzbekistan and Russia will meet in Tashkent. The first Russia – Uzbekistan interregional cooperation forum will be held within the framework of the official visit of the Russian President.
