Director of the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Eldor Aripov addressed the 7th International Forum “Primakov Readings” on “Emerging World Order: New Challenges”, in Moscow.
According to E. Aripov, the dedication of a separate session to Central Asia, where the most current trends in world politics are discussed, directly speaks of the growing role of the region, of the attention that is now paid to it.
It was emphasized that the trend of regional rapprochement is becoming more and more obvious and distinct. At the same time, the dilemma “competition or partnership in the region is no longer present. An unambiguous choice was made in favor of partnership”.
The transformation of the region in favor of consolidation is an already accomplished fact, made possible by the new regional strategy of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, which puts the principle of finding reasonable compromises at the forefront of foreign policy. This movement was initiated by the Samarkand Conference on Central Asia in November 2017.
The renewal of Central Asia was also accompanied by an increase in the number of contacts between the leaders of the countries, an increase in trade turnover, the implementation of large joint projects, E. Aripov concluded.
The event was organized by the Primakov Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences together with the International Trade Centre and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation.
Aide to the President of the Russian Federation Yury Ushakov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov, Chairman of the Executive Committee – Executive Secretary of the CIS Sergey Lebedev, leading diplomats, politicians and scientists from 25 countries attended the event.
Uzbekistan delegation – leading experts from ISRS, IICA, UWED and MFA, was led by the ISRS Director Eldor Aripov.
