Uzbekistan delegation takes part in the CSW67

The sixty-seventh session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW67) is taking place from 6 to 17 March, in New York. A delegation of Uzbekistan consisting of representatives of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, the Women’s Committee, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led by the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation Shakhlo Turdikulova, is attending the event.

The theme of this year’s meeting is “Innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls”.

The event brought together about 1,000 representatives of the governments of UN member states, international organizations, non-governmental organizations dealing with gender issues accredited to ECOSOC, experts from civil society institutions and media representatives.

At the event, members of the delegation of Uzbekistan presented the experience of Uzbekistan in achieving gender equality, information on ongoing work to expand opportunities in women’s entrepreneurship and business, education and opportunities provided to women in science, as well as an innovative approach to ensuring the social protection of women and girls.

At the same time, the delegation took part in sessions on the role of parliaments in advancing gender equality using technological methods and debates on the development of inclusive innovation and technological change in the development of women’s rights and the creation of a safer digital space.

Members of Uzbekistan delegation also held bilateral talks with representatives of the UN Women, the UNFPA, as well as representatives of the governments of Hungary and Kyrgyzstan.

The CSW67 will run until March 17.
