Uzbekistan delegation has taken part in the virtual conference of IOM.

Uzbekistan delegation, led by the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva, has taken part in the virtual conference of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in the region of the UN Economic Commission for Europe.

According to the Upper House of Parliament, representatives of UN structures, leaders of various countries, a number of international organizations dealing with migration and labor rights issues took part in the conference on regional review of the Global Compact for Migration.

Tanzila Narbayeva noted that cooperation with IOM is important for Uzbekistan, which has reached a new level in connection with the accession of the country to the organization last year as a full member.

As noted by the participants, the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration became the first global UN agreement on a common approach to international migration in all its dimensions. It was approved by 156 states, including Uzbekistan.

At the conference, views were exchanged on the main aspects of achieving the goals of the Global Compact for Migration.
