Uzbekistan delegation signs bilateral documents in Mississippi
Uzbekistan delegation led by the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Sodik Safoyev visited the State of Mississippi.
Uzbekistan delegation led by the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Sodik Safoyev visited the State of Mississippi. The delegation included representatives of ministries of Innovative Development, Investments and Foreign Trade, Agriculture, as well as, Parrandasanoat and Uztuqimachiliksanoat Associations.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, the delegation held fruitful meetings with representatives of official and business circles, signed a number of documents aimed at establishing cooperation in specific practical areas.
During the negotiations with the Executive Director of Mississippi Development Authority Glenn McCullough, the sides exchanged views on prospects of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Mississippi in implementation of joint projects in agriculture, agro-industrial complex, petro chemistry and mechanical engineering. The American side expressed its readiness for contributing the development of direct business contacts between small business entities of Uzbekistan and Mississippi.
An agreement was reached on organization of the visit of representatives of the state business circles delegation led by the Governor of Mississippi Phil Bryant to Uzbekistan in April.
Following the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Mississippi Development Authority and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan. The document is aimed at deepening direct contacts between business communities, as well as mutual trade cooperation. The sides will actively promote participation of business representatives of the two countries in relevant events and programs, promote mutual exchange of information on trade fairs, business forums and exhibitions.
At the meeting of the delegation of Uzbekistan with Mississippi Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce Andy Gibson, a constructive exchange of views on prospects of bilateral cooperation was held and concrete practical steps on development of partnership in agricultural sector were outlined.
Following the meeting, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan Saidkamol Khojayev and Mississippi Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce Andy Gibson signed a cooperation agreement. The document provides for expansion of cooperation in agro industrial complex in such areas as technological development, introduction of know-how, quality standards and control, training agricultural personnel, as well as, creation of favorable conditions for mutual trade. As it was noted, the agreement will lay a foundation for intensifying cooperation in specific areas.
Uzbekistan delegation also held negotiations with the President and CEO for Innovate Mississippi Tony Jeff. The sides discussed issues of establishing bilateral cooperation between research communities in innovations, science and technologies.
An agreement was reached on cooperation between the Ministry of Innovative Development of Uzbekistan, Innovate Mississippi and the Center for Advanced Technologies in such areas as support for start-up projects, organization of training courses and trainings, as well as implementation of innovative projects. The sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation, which provides for expansion of cooperation between research institutes of the parties in the spheres of scientific research and innovative research.
According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the United States, the negotiations held by Uzbekistan delegation in Mississippi allowed to lay a solid foundation for further development of bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
