Uzbekistan delegation participates in Cairo Water Week

From October 12 to 14 of this year, Cairo Water Week and the 38th General Assembly of the Inter-Islamic Network on Water Resources Development and Management were held in Cairo, Egypt.

The event brought together ministers, experts, and representatives of international organizations from many countries around the world.

An active participant in the event was the delegation of Uzbekistan, led by Shavkat Khamrayev, Minister of Water Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

As part of the program, an exhibition was organized showcasing modern solutions in the field of water management and irrigation. It featured new technologies for drip and sprinkler irrigation, as well as automated meters and sensor-based control systems.

During the meetings between the delegations of Uzbekistan and Egypt, issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of water management were discussed. The Uzbek side also presented information on the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan, including the adoption of the Water Code, the Water Resources Management and Irrigation Sector Development Program for 2025-2028, the reconstruction of more than 2,500 kilometers of irrigation networks, and the implementation of drip irrigation systems on 1.4 million hectares.

The Minister of Water Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan held several bilateral meetings at relevant agencies. The discussions focused on the management of transboundary water resources, the implementation of digital technologies and innovative solutions, the execution of joint pilot projects, and the expansion of scientific cooperation.

An agreement was reached to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Egyptian National Water Research Center.

As part of the event, meetings were also held with representatives of major international companies such as First Class Gear Technology, Wilo, The Leading Construction Companies, and Technical Development Solutions. The parties discussed modern solutions and potential areas of cooperation in the field of water management.
