Uzbekistan delegation attends the Regional Workshop “Women Peace and Security”
12:21 / 2024-07-04

A regional workshop for representatives of Central Asian countries was held in Vienna.

Experts and representatives of governments and civil society institutions from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan attended the event.

Participants discussed national action plans to implement the Women’s Peace and Security agenda, issues of gender equality, and women’s role in society.

Member of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Gulnora Marufova was informed about Uzbekistan’s achievements in this area and successful practices aimed at integrating gender aspects into decision-making processes in security and peacekeeping.

One of the main discussion issues was the exchange of experience on involving women in peacekeeping operations and conflict resolution. Methods for overcoming women’s barriers in this process and ways for their active involvement in decision-making at all levels were considered.

Following the workshop, the participants developed recommendations for further developing and improving national action plans and strengthening cooperation between Central Asian states in implementing the “Women Peace and Security” agenda.
