The seventy-eighth session of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is being held in a hybrid modality from 23 to 27 May 2022 at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok and online.
The theme of the session is “A common agenda for promoting sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific region”.
Guided by the theme “A common agenda to advance sustainable development in Asia and the Pacific”, the annual session will be an opportunity to discuss and shape the future of regional cooperation centered around a new form of multilateralism and regional cooperation.
Uzbekistan delegation at the session was led by Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov.
In his speech in an online format, the head of the delegation informed about the implementation of the large-scale reform strategy of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as well as the priorities and main directions of the New Uzbekistan Development Strategy for 2022-2026, which largely correspond to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Uzbek side proposed interaction in priority areas to achieve the UN SDGs in cooperation with the countries of the Asia-Pacific region.
