The Embassy of Uzbekistan, with the assistance of the USAID project, organized two national stands and provided the participation of about 20 companies and organizations at the Macfrut 2022 international trade fair for the fruit and vegetable sector in Rimini, Italy.
The Macfrut is one of the most important international events for the fruit and vegetable industry in Europe and is held annually in the city of Rimini. The exhibition is attended by Italian and foreign companies, associations, consortiums and research institutes operating in the fruit and vegetable sector.
More than 830 companies from 45 countries of the world, engaged in the fruit and vegetable sector, exhibited their products at this year’s exhibition. Over 35 thousand people visited the exhibition.
Uzbekistan’s Baraka Meva Sanoat, Mehrigiyo, Global Export, Exim Agro, BMB Trade, Global Silk Road, Orient Agro Export, New Way Industries and Red Pack, which confidently conquer European markets with national brands, demonstrated corn, dried, frozen vegetables and fruits, food products from medicinal plants, as well as cherries, lemons, pomegranates, plums, cabbage, nuts, raisins, mung beans, beans, saffron, and others.
Uzbekistan products aroused great interest among the participants of the exhibition. Uzbekistan entrepreneurs met with representatives of companies from Italy and European countries, held talks on the supply of domestic products and reached several mutually beneficial agreements.
At the initiative of the Embassy of Uzbekistan, the delegation of the Horticulture and Greenhouse Development Agency under the Ministry of Agriculture took an active part in the International Cherry Symposium.
The event was attended by representatives of the world’s leading countries, growing cherries, including Uzbekistan, the United States, Spain, Italy, Turkey and Chile. The participants discussed the prospects for the development of this sector.
At meetings with the heads of such major global companies as Consorzio della Ciliegia di Vignola (Italy), Stemilt Growers (United States), Alara Agri (Turkey), Frutaria (Spain) and Agricola San Francisco Lo Garcés” (Chile), an agreement was reached on testing new varieties of sweet cherries in Uzbekistan, studying the market and establishing mutually beneficial cooperation.
Talks were also held with several Italian companies, such as Unitec, Cermac, A&C, Fagri, Idromecchanica Lucchini, Irritec, Irrimec and research centers interested in working in the fruit and vegetable sector of Uzbekistan.
