Uzbekistan citizens in the UK are also actively participating in the referendum
22:11 / 2023-04-30

Today’s referendum has demonstrated that our people are not indifferent to the amendments and additions introduced to the Constitution. Citizens visited polling stations from early morning to express their will.

Notably, Uzbekistan citizens abroad are not indifferent to this historic event.

A referendum precinct has been organized in London, UK. The Consulate of Uzbekistan in the United Kingdom has created all conditions for voters arriving in a festive mood.

Uzbekistan citizens living and studying in different cities of this country overcome a certain path in a few hours to participate in a referendum and vote at a polling station.

Among them is Dilafruz Sulaymanova, who came from Birmingham. She shared her impressions of today’s process with the UzA Correspondent.

– It is very gratifying that our country is rapidly developing day by day, gaining its special place, authority, and even its new image on the world stage. According to statistics, by 2040 the population of our country will reach 50 million people. The increase in population also requires new reforms in the country and certain changes in laws. The basis of all changes, of course, is human will and dignity, citizens have the right to live freely, and the state and society must create the necessary conditions for this.

I am currently studying for a master’s degree at the University of Birmingham, which is one of the top 100 universities in the world. Although I live abroad, I follow all the news, reforms, and changes taking place in Uzbekistan. In particular, we did not remain indifferent to the process of adopting the renewed Basic Law, introducing several changes and additions to it. That’s why we came today with the whole family.

I would like to note that as a teacher who has been working in the sphere of education for more than ten years, I feel a special involvement in these changes. It would not be an exaggeration to say that the nine most important innovations regarding the right to education will form the basis for the future development of the sphere.

We are also pleased that higher education institutions are granted academic freedom, self-government, and freedom to conduct research and teach.

It is also worth mentioning separately that now the focus of the leadership of Uzbekistan is on inclusive education programs that have stood the test of time in the leading developing countries of the world. This is a very important and essential aspect. Because this will allow raising boys and girls with disabilities who need help in the same conditions as other children, using all the possibilities of the state. It is commendable that the solution to these problems was found and enshrined in our Basic Law.
