Uzbekistan – China Research Center opens at TSUOS

Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies hosted the grand opening of Uzbekistan – China Research Center on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and China.

Works of Uzbek Sinology, made by TSUOS specialists were presented at the event.

The ceremony was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to the People’s Republic of China Farkhod Arziyev, representatives of China’s Embassy in Uzbekistan, heads of the Information and Analytical Center under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the SCO Public Diplomacy Center in Uzbekistan, the Confucius Institute at TSUOS.

The participants highly appreciated the work carried out in Sinology at TSUOS over the past period and noted their readiness to assist in the implementation of long-term plans facing the newly created center.

According to Elyor Makhmudov, TSUOS Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, creating monographs, studying China’s domestic, foreign policy and economic experience, the role of the Great Silk Road and the prospects for cooperation between the two countries, the creation of new generation textbooks, electronic applications, and training young researchers are among the priority tasks of the center.

“The Center is preparing for publication of scientific works by sinologists created during the independence. 22 volumes of monographs by domestic sinologists will become a significant and symbolic gift for the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and China”, TSUOS Rector Gulchekhra Rikhsiyeva said.
