Uzbekistan – China: Interparliamentary Cooperation Reaches a New Level
20:59 / 2024-07-08

The Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting with a delegation from China led by the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress Zhao Leji.

Chairperson of the Senate of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva noted that historical ties between Uzbekistan and China have deep roots and remain to this day. Thanks to friendly relations and the strong political will of the two countries’ leaders, cooperation is strengthening.

The parties noted that parliaments play a considerable role in relations between Uzbekistan and China, but interaction needs to be enriched with practical content. The importance of intensifying the work of parliamentary friendship groups, carrying out mutual visits, establishing close ties between committees, and exchanging experience in lawmaking and parliamentary control was noted.

The guests supported proposals to establish connections between local Councils and the provinces of China. During the negotiations, it was emphasized that cooperation between the regions of Uzbekistan and China should deepen not only in trade and economic, but also in cultural, humanitarian, scientific, and educational spheres.

An agreement was reached on strengthening the legal foundations of bilateral relations, developing cooperation within international parliamentary structures, and constant support for mutual initiatives.
