Uzbekistan, China develop trade and economic relations

As part of the implementation of the agreements reached between President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President Xi Jinping during telephone conversations in 2021, the Embassy, ​​together with the representative office of the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan in China, is systematically working to improve trade and economic relations between the two countries.

Recently, several activities have been carried out in this direction. In particular, the city of Changsha, Hunan Province, hosted the IV International Forum “Cooperation in the Legal and Trade Spheres”. The event was organized by the China Council for Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT).

Uzbekistan diplomats made a presentation on “Legislative framework and advantages of investing in Uzbekistan”. Chinese businesspeople got also acquainted with the main results of the large-scale reforms in the economic sphere under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the priorities of the New Uzbekistan Strategy for the coming years in this area, as well as the favorable conditions created in the country for foreign investors.

Business contacts were established with several Chinese companies interested in developing cooperation with Uzbek partners. Among them are Lenercom and Hunan Nanchang Technology, specializing in the development and production of solar panels for domestic and industrial use, energy-saving boilers.

Talks were held with representatives of Sansure Boitech Inc., which develops and manufactures medical laboratory products. Issues of cooperation with Changsha Zoomlion Environmental Industry, which produces electric trucks and special vehicles for public utilities, were discussed.

Meetings were held with the Director of the Administrative Committee of the China-SCO Demonstration Zone Liu Jianjun, in Qingdao.

In 2021, the foreign trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $7.4 billion. Of these, Uzbek imports amount to $4.9 billion, the bulk of which is equipment for the implementation of large infrastructure and other investment projects.

The parties also discussed the issues of speeding up the dispatch of Uzbek cargo from the port of Qingdao and the Jiaozhou railway station. Agreements were reached on the adoption of joint practical measures, taking into account the epidemiological situation.
