Uzbekistan – China: $2 billion to be invested in Uzbekistan

The Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan signed a Cooperation Agreement with China’s Huaneng Renewables Corporation and Poly Technologies for the construction of solar photovoltaic stations with a total capacity of 2,000 MW in Jizzakh and Tashkent regions.

According to the Ministry of Energy, under the agreement, the consortium will make direct investments in Uzbekistan for $2 billion.

“It is planned to launch solar photovoltaic stations at the end of the year, and in 2024 they will operate at full capacity”, says the Chief Specialist of the Press Service of the Ministry, Obidjon Dilmuradov. – They will annually produce five billion kWh, 1.3 billion cubic meters of natural gas will be saved.

These days, a delegation led by the Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan is visiting China. During the visit, two documents were signed. In addition to the agreement, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed with the Chinese CEEC ENERGY CHINA on the construction of solar photovoltaic power plants with a total capacity of 2000 MW in Kashkadarya, Bukhara and Samarkand regions.
