Uzbekistan widely celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Veteran Association of Veteran Soldiers and Handicapped People of Uzbekistan on the initiative of the Head of the state.

Uzbekistan widely celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Veteran Association of Veteran Soldiers and Handicapped People of Uzbekistan on the initiative of the Head of the state. 

The Association was created on February 2, 1994 for social and legal protection, restoring the health of veteran soldiers, handicapped people who participated in Afghanistan War, as well as members of families of military personnel who died in the line of duty.

Guests from CIS countries came to Uzbekistan to attend the celebrations.

Uzbekistan hosted a meeting of the Coordinating Council of the Warriors-Internationalists Affairs Committee under the Council of CIS Heads of Governments for the first time, during which the report of the Council on activities implemented in the past year was heard and further activities of the committee were discussed.

Veteran soldiers, guests and representatives of public organizations laid flowers at the Monument of Independence and Humanism, as well as at the monument of Grieving Mother. A solemn opening ceremony of the Book of Memory, which includes the names of more than 1,500 of our compatriots who died in Afghanistan War, was held.

An exhibition of products created by veteran soldiers, as well as a concert at Turkiston Palace of Arts was held within the framework of the event.

Veteran soldiers and guests were presented with badges of labor veterans and gifts from the President of the country. The Warriors-Internationalists Affairs Committee under the Council of CIS Heads of Governments awarded Uzbekistan veterans who participated in Afghanistan War.

A concert program with participation of famous artists was held.

The solemn event was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan A.Abdukhakimov.
