Tashkent hosted a solemn event on the occasion of June 27, Press and Mass Media Workers Day.
The event was attended by members of the Senate, deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, representatives of ministries and agencies, public organizations, honorary journalists, publishers, printers, professors and teachers of higher education institutions.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s congratulatory message for the press and mass media workers was read out by the Deputy Head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Presidential Press Secretary Sherzod Asadov.
By the Decree of the Head of the state “On rewarding a group of workers in connection with the Press and Mass Media Workers Day” of June 25 a group of workers in the sphere was awarded honorary titles, orders and medals for their great contribution to the process of democratic reforms aimed at establishing freedom of speech and press in Uzbekistan, the principles of openness and publicity, ensuring the constitutional rights of citizens in the information sphere, special merits in protecting national interests in the global information space, broadly promoting the success achieved in building a new Uzbekistan, fruitful activities in training highly qualified professional personnel for modern journalism, educating the young generation in the spirit of love and devotion to the Motherland, as well as for active participation in public life.
The awards were presented by the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva.
A concert was held with the participation of art masters, pop stars and young performers.
