The Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Ties with Foreign Countries under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan celebrated International Mother Language Day.
The event was attended by chairmen and activists of the cultural centers of the country, young students, representatives of diplomatic corps accredited in Uzbekistan, as well as media workers.
A book exhibition as part of the celebration presented school textbooks in seven languages, periodicals, collections, books and exhibits of folk arts and crafts, which aroused general interest.
Chairman of the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Ties with Foreign Countries Rustambek Kurbanov noted that Uzbekistan provides an exceptionally respectful attitude towards languages, customs and traditions of various nations and nationalities living in the country.
It was emphasized that the Committee would continue to provide comprehensive assistance to all national cultural centers in their activities to preserve and develop national customs, traditions, languages of culture.
Ambassador of Bangladesh to Uzbekistan Md. Zahangir Alam and others spoke about the history and significance of International Mother Language Day.
