Uzbekistan – British cooperation considered at MIFT

First Deputy Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Laziz Kudratov met with British Ambassador Timothy Torlot.

According to MIFT, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of deepening trade, economic, investment, financial and technical cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United Kingdom.

The parties noted with satisfaction a 2.5-fold increase in bilateral trade following the results of 9 months of this year, as well as an increase in the number of enterprises with British capital over the past 4 years by 33% – from 260 to 350 companies.

They also considered the current status of Uzbekistan’s application for joining the Enhanced GSP and the format of interaction to promote this initiative.

Issues related to holding the conference of the Uzbek-British Trade and Industry Council (UBTIC) in the city of Tashkent in spring next year were discussed.

Following the talks, the parties agreed to accelerate the implementation of joint initiatives and programs aimed at further enhancing multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.
