Uzbekistan – Belarus: Important documents on strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation signed

Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva met with the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Natalya Kochanova in Minsk. The parties noted that the two countries’ parliamentarians are actively cooperating within the framework of international organizations such as the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly and the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

Proposals were put forward on such issues as the exchange of experience in lawmaking, gender, and youth policy, the expansion and deepening of cooperation between the two countries’ regions through the forum of regions, and the establishment of partnerships in digital development. An agreement was reached on legal support within the framework of the parliaments’ activities of the agreements reached between the two states in various fields.

Hope was expressed that signing the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Senate of the Oliy Majlis and the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly will bring relations to a new level.

Attention was paid to the upcoming forum, which will become an effective platform for discussing and developing new proposals for women’s entrepreneurship and strengthening trade and economic ties between the two countries. It was noted that the final document of the forum (declaration) would contribute to implementing new joint business projects with the participation of women entrepreneurs of the two countries.

The Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva left an entry in the Book of Honored Guests of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus.

The parties signed memorandums of cooperation between the Youth Council (Parliament) under the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and the Youth Parliament under the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as between the Republican Public Association “Belarusian Women’s Union” and the Family and Women’s Committee.
