Uzbekistan – Belarus Business Forum: Contracts signed for $15 million

Tashkent hosted Uzbekistan – Belarus Business Forum and a B2B meeting.

The event, organized within the framework of the visit of the delegation of the Republic of Belarus led by Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko, demonstrated the economic potential of Uzbekistan and the scale of multifaceted cooperation. At the event, representatives of ministries and industrial associations, and businesspeople of the two countries discussed the current state and prospects for trade, economic and investment cooperation.

The importance of creating additional conditions for entrepreneurs of the two countries was noted. The possibility of concluding mutually beneficial trade contracts and implementing joint investment projects in Uzbekistan was considered.

Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan Davron Vakhobov noted that in the economy of the country, great attention is paid to enhancing the role of the private sector. Practical measures are being developed that are being actively implemented.

The participants discussed issues of improving the business atmosphere, reducing the tax burden for business entities, strengthening the mechanism of the legal protection of private property and foreign capital, as well as identifying reserve economic opportunities in the context of each region, district and city.

The food, textile, electrical, pharmaceutical, biomedical and information technology industries were named as priority areas for cooperation between the businesspeople of the two countries.

Following the forum, seven contracts were signed for over $15 million with the participation of more than 20 industrial enterprises between Uzbekistan and Belarus.

B2B meetings allowed businesspeople to demonstrate their products and services, exchange experience in priority areas of export potential and cooperation.
