Uzbekistan becomes a full member of the International Olive Oil Council
According to the IOC Secretariat, on August 31, 2021, Uzbekistan officially became a full member of the Organization, joining the 2015 International Agreement on Olive Oil and Table Olives.
The International Olive Council (IOC) was established in 1959 under the 1956 International Agreement on Olive Oil. 11 countries of Europe and Africa became the founders of the council: Belgium, France, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Spain, the United Kingdom, Israel, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia. Membership in the International Olive Oil Council does not incur any annual financial costs.
The IOC’s headquarters are in Madrid, Spain. The organization’s members account for more than 98% of global olive production.
The official ceremony of raising the flag of the Republic of Uzbekistan is scheduled for September-October.
