The United Arab Emirates hosts the 2022 Junior and Cadet World Fencing Championships.
The saber fencers who worthily defended the honor of Uzbekistan at the championships returned to Tashkent on April 5. The Minister of Sports Development Adkham Ikromov and the Chairman of the Fencing Federation of Uzbekistan Rustam Shoabdurakhmanov solemnly welcomed the athletes at Tashkent International Airport named after Islam Karimov.
Zukhriddin Kadyrov won a gold medal at the World Championships, and Zaynab Dayibekova, the winner of the World Cup, a bronze medal. Zukhriddin Kadyrov defeated the representatives of Canada, Egypt, Hungary, the United States and Germany and became the first athlete to win the title of world champion in fencing during the independence. This success was noted by Adkham Ikromov.
The Minister of Sports Development read out the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on awarding Zukhriddin Kadyrov with the “Mard O’g’lon” State Prize and solemnly presented the award to the athlete. Z. Kadyrov was awarded $5,000, Z. Dayibekova – $3,000. The coaches Vladimir Nazlimov – $2,000 and Y. Yuldashev – $1,000.
“I am grateful to my parents, I am grateful to the coaches”, says Zukhriddin Kadyrov. – I achieved victory thanks to their guidance. I express my deep gratitude to the President for the conditions created for us.
“Thank you all for being happy with us, for the organized reception”, says Zaynab Dayibekova. – Our victories are the result of the President’s attention to youth. I promise to win a gold medal at the next World Championship.
Athletes Musa Aytmuradov, Sherzod Mamutov, Boburjon Rasulov, and Samira Shokirova successfully performed in the competition. They took places in the top ten. This indicates that there are worthy athletes to participate in the upcoming Paris 2024 fencing competitions and the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, and Uzbek fencing has a bright future.
