“Uzbekistan: Avant-Garde in the Desert” amazes art lovers
The large-scale exhibition project “Uzbekistan: Avant-Garde in the Desert” continues at the exhibition space of Ca' Foscari University in Venice.
The exhibition presents rare works by Russian artists of the early 20th century from the collection of the State Museum of Art named after I.V. Savitsky – Lyubov Popova and Vera Pestel.
“Amazons of the Avant-Garde”, as some art historians called the artists, painted them in 1916, being profoundly influenced by the then fashionable trends of Suprematism, Futurism, and pictorial architectonics. These trends shaped their art and continue to inspire art lovers today.
The Venetian section of the project “Form and Symbol” will be open to visitors until September 29 in the exhibition space of Ca' Foscari University.
