Uzbekistan athletes won 13 medals at the Asian U-20 Wrestling Championships in Manama, Bahrain.
In Greco-Roman wrestling championships, 4 of our compatriots climbed the podium.
Two Uzbek wrestlers, who completed all the competitions before the final, lost to their rivals in the last fight and received silver medals.
Alisher Ganiyev, who fought for bronze, defeated Abdullah Janda from Saudi Arabia ahead of schedule with a score of 10:0, and Khusniddin Olimboyev lost to Bagdat Sabaz from Kazakhstan.
Freestyle wrestlers Umidjon Jalolov, Zafarbek Otakhonov, Arslan Rakhimov and Ravshanbek Jumaboyev won bronze medals in their weight categories.
4 members of the women’s wrestling team also climbed the podium. Laylokhan Sobirova defeated all her rivals and became the champion of Asia.
Dilshoda Matnazarova won a silver medal. Rushana Abdirasulova and Firuza Yesenbayeva won bronze medals.
Female athletes received 1 gold and silver, as well as 2 bronze medals and took 3rd place after Japan and India.
Thus, the Uzbekistan youth wrestling team finished the championship with 2 gold, 3 silver and 8 bronze medals.
