Uzbekistan’s first Ambassador to San Marino, Abat Fayzullayev, who will reside in Rome, presented his credentials to the Captains Regent of San Marino, Francesca Civerchia and Dalibor Riccardi.
During the ceremony, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of San Marino Luca Beccari welcomed the newly accredited ambassadors and commended Uzbekistan’s ongoing economic and democratic reforms, as well as its efforts to develop dialogue with San Marino, including the appointment of the first Ambassador in the history of bilateral relations. Minister Beccari also expressed support for Uzbekistan’s initiatives addressing climate and environmental issues. Both sides expressed confidence in the continued development of bilateral trade and economic cooperation, as well as in strengthening the legal framework and mutual support for candidacies and initiatives within multilateral platforms, such as the United Nations and the OSCE.

Diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and San Marino were established on 3 February 2021. San Marino is one of the world’s smallest states, situated in Southern Europe.
