Paris hosted a meeting between the First Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan Avazkhon Tojikhonov and the UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Culture Ernesto Ottone.
According to the Ministry of Culture, during the dialogue, it was noted that in recent years, the relationship has reached a qualitatively new level. High-level negotiations between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the Director General of UNESCO Audrey Azoulay have become the basis for joint new projects with international organizations.
Today, many cultural heritage sites of Uzbekistan are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, and much attention is paid to their preservation and promotion. The organization actively supports such cultural and educational festivals as “Sharq Taronalari”, “Lazgi”, “Maqom”, and “Bakhshi”.
On March 3-8 this year, a UNESCO delegation visited Uzbekistan. During the visit, preparation processes for the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference, which will be held in November 2025 in Samarkand, were discussed. During its 40-year history, this prestigious international structure will hold such a large-scale event outside its headquarters for the first time. The choice of Uzbekistan to host the conference is undoubtedly an act of trust.
