Chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, International Economic Relations, Foreign Investments and Tourism Ravshanbek Alimov met with the Director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights Matteo Mecacci.

It was noted that an open and reliable dialogue has been established between Uzbekistan and the OSCE in recent years. Matteo Mecacci expressed his readiness to continue close cooperation in areas of mutual interest and noted that he supports the democratic reforms in Uzbekistan and the growing role of parliament in reforming society. He expressed the Office’s readiness to contribute to developing parliamentarism and civil society institutions in Uzbekistan and made recommendations for improving electoral legislation. The role of the delegation of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the activities of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly was noted.

The parties agreed to strengthen collaboration.
