10:07 / 2025-04-02

A delegation from the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan visited South Korea.

The parties focused on improving environmental assessment systems, assessing the impact of various industries on the environment, and expanding cooperation in strategic environmental assessment, as well as ensuring carbon neutrality.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Center for State Ecological Expertise of Uzbekistan and the Korea Environment Institute. The document facilitates the exchange of experience in environmental impact assessment, promotes the expansion of public participation in environmental decision-making, and fosters the development of mechanisms for national legislation in line with international standards.

The parties agreed to organize training workshops to enhance the skills of specialists and foster cooperation within the framework of the KOICA Project, “Strengthening the Environmental Impact Assessment and Strategic Environmental Assessment System in Uzbekistan”.

Special attention was paid to the digitalization of environmental monitoring. The delegation examined the South Korean experience in developing an integrated digital system that enables real-time monitoring of the environment. It is planned to adopt such technologies in Uzbekistan, taking into account international standards.
