14:21 / 2026-01-28

The Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan continues active efforts to develop international cooperation and promote the country’s tourism potential in foreign markets.

A briefing was held in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, dedicated to the prospects for the development and promotion of the “Umrah +” program. The event was attended by representatives of tourism associations, airlines, relevant organizations, tour operators, and members of the media.

During the briefing, detailed information was presented on the reforms underway in Uzbekistan’s tourism sector and on state support measures to increase the flow of pilgrims from Malaysia and Indonesia. Particular attention was paid to creating favorable conditions for pilgrims and to the benefits and opportunities provided to foreign tour operators.

Participants of the event became familiar with Uzbekistan’s rich historical and cultural heritage, including the cities of Tashkent, Samarkand, and Bukhara, which played a significant role in the development of Islamic civilization.

The key outcome of the briefing was the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the tourism associations of Uzbekistan and Malaysia within the framework of the “Umrah +” program. The document provides for the implementation of joint projects, the exchange of experience in pilgrimage tourism, and the further development of sustainable partnership ties.
