As part of the official visit by representatives of the Government of Uzbekistan to the Islamic Republic of Iran, documents aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation were signed in Tehran, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan reports.
Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov led the Uzbekistan delegation, while First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref represented the Iranian side.
The parties emphasized trade relations, confirming their readiness to increase bilateral trade to the targeted level of $2 billion. Measures to eliminate existing barriers in transport and logistics were discussed, along with steps to enhance industrial cooperation and interregional interaction.
In addition, emphasis was placed on developing partnerships in science, education, innovation, tourism, and culture. The importance of coordinated efforts by relevant ministries and agencies to ensure the timely implementation of the agreements reached was underscored.
Following the negotiations, the following documents were signed:
– Intergovernmental Roadmap for Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation for 2025-2027;
– Protocol approving the list of goods under the Preferential Trade Agreement;
– Memorandum of Cooperation in Plant Quarantine and Protection;
– Memorandum of Understanding on Halal Product Standardization.
