A delegation led by Gaurav Dwivedi, Chief Executive Director of India’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, is visiting Uzbekistan.
As part of the visit, the delegation held meetings with the leadership of the Agency of Information and Mass Communications under the Administration of the President of Uzbekistan, the National Television and Radio Company, the Cinematography Agency under the Ministry of Culture, the National Media Association, and the National News Agency.
During a meeting held at the residence of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Uzbekistan, Ms. Smita Pant, discussions were held on further developing cooperation between UzA and India’s leading news agencies.

Gaurav Dwivedi emphasized that relations between the two countries are rapidly progressing in various fields, highlighting the importance of reliable information exchange in this process. Acknowledging the positive changes in Uzbekistan’s media landscape, the Indian side expressed interest in establishing regular communication with UzA to cover the most significant events in the country through leading news sources.
During the discussion, detailed information was provided about the First World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES), which will be held in Mumbai.
Mr. Abdusaid Kuchimov, Director General of Uzbekistan National News Agency, acknowledged the unique history of India’s media industry. He noted that in this legendary country, 19,000 newspapers with a total circulation of 51 million copies in 84 languages, and 18,000 magazines with a circulation of 35 million copies are in operation. From this perspective, he emphasized that agreements with leading media outlets under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting would serve as a solid foundation for further developing cooperation.
In turn, Ambassador Smita Pant expressed her pleasure in attending a meeting held at Kuksaroy on March 8 in honor of International Women’s Day. The Ambassador emphasized the importance of working together to implement the agreements reached during meetings between the leaders of Uzbekistan and India. She also reaffirmed India’s readiness to continue close cooperation with the media, particularly with UzA, in this process.
