Uzbekistan and India: A Memorandum of Cooperation between women’s organizations signed

The Indian delegation actively participated in the Asian Women’s Forum in Samarkand.

The forum, organized within the framework of the initiative put forward by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, to realize the creative potential of women leaders of the countries of the region, exchange experience on further expanding their participation in government and society, in the economy, caused great interest among the general public in India. In this regard, several materials were published in leading Indian media.

The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Delhi provided organizational support to the delegation led by the Chairperson of the National Commission for Women of India Rekha Sharma to participate in the important international event.

It is noted that Ms. Rekha Sharma, as part of the forum in Samarkand, met with the Chairperson of the Committee on Family and Women of Uzbekistan Ozoda Parpibayeva. The parties exchanged views on intensifying cooperation between women’s organizations of the two countries, holding joint events, and supporting efforts to increase women’s activity in society.

Following the talks, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Committee for Family and Women of Uzbekistan and the National Commission for Women of India.
