The Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers hosted an international event timed to March 22 – World Water Day.
Sustainable management of Uzbekistan’s water resources, adaptation to climate change, and innovative solutions in this area were discussed at the event, which was attended by senior officials of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, ministries, representatives of international organizations, experts, scientists, and students.
It was noted that the sustainable management of water resources and their effective use is one of the urgent issues at present.
The event timed to World Water Day will help strengthen international cooperation in addressing such issues as water scarcity, climate change adaptation and transboundary water issues.

The introduction of mechanisms for saving and recycling water resources based on scientific research and innovative solutions is of great importance not only for economic development, but also for ensuring environmental stability. Such events contribute to applying international best practices in the rational use of water resources in Uzbekistan.
Innovative solutions to the problems of water scarcity, climate change, and water conservation were presented at the event. The participants discussed water resources management issues in the Zarafshan River basin, measures to counter cross-border climate threats, and effective management of water resources in the region.
The winners of competitions devoted to water conservation and climate issues were awarded. The technology exhibition demonstrating innovations in water management development was also presented.
