12:21 / 2025-12-12

Advisor to the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan Alisher Shaykhov held a meeting with the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federative Republic of Brazil to Uzbekistan Sergio Rodrigues dos Santos and Vice Foreign Minister of Brazil, Secretary for Asia and the Pacific at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Susan Kleebank.

The parties discussed the prospects for expanding economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Brazil, with a focus on developing joint projects in agriculture, industry, and agro-industrial cooperation. A special emphasis was placed on the effective use of new opportunities to enter the markets of South America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.

The initiative to host the Uzbekistan – Brazil Business Forum in Tashkent in 2026 was discussed. As participants emphasized, holding such an event will provide a significant platform for direct dialogue among entrepreneurs, partner searches, and the promotion of joint investment projects.

The Brazilian delegation was informed about the large-scale investment reforms underway in Uzbekistan, the improvement of business conditions, and promising areas of cooperation, including electrical engineering, aviation, automotive, digital economy, agriculture, and the provision of raw materials.

Special attention was paid to strengthening cooperation between Central Asian countries and BRICS. The parties agreed to step up their joint efforts to enhance trade and economic ties and to leverage the BRICS and Central Asia + Azerbaijan platforms to expand joint projects.

During the meeting, an initiative was proposed to establish the Central Asia + Brazil Business Club, a permanent platform for business communication between entrepreneurs in the region and Brazilian companies. Brazil also announced its readiness to send a business mission to Uzbekistan in 2026 and to facilitate the return visit of Uzbekistan entrepreneurs to Brazil.

Following the talks, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in developing bilateral economic ties and their intention to promote the initiatives discussed.
