According to the published report, compared to last year, Uzbekistan Airports demonstrated significant growth in key indicators in the third quarter of this year. The calculations considered passenger traffic, the number of flights served, and the cargo volume.
Over the first 9 months of 2024, Uzbekistan’s international airports were a hive of activity, handling a total of 82,637 flights. Of these, 24,914 were domestic and 57,723 were international, marking a significant 36 percent increase from the previous year. Local airlines were responsible for 53,942 of these flights, with foreign airlines operating the remaining 28,695.
The tourism sector is gradually recovering from the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. At the same time, the increase compared to the same period in 2023 was 33 percent.
Also, in the third quarter of 2024, 62,067 tons of cargo and mail were handled, 21 percent higher than last year’s figures.
