Uzbekistan Airports held negotiations with representatives of the Italian company EU Wings Srl, specializing in aircraft maintenance.
In March this year, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the two companies. According to Uzbekistan Airports, the parties intend to work on the issue of creating a joint venture at Navoi airport. The venture will provide basic aircraft maintenance and repair services, as well as aircraft line maintenance at other international airports in Uzbekistan.
“The Italian EU Wings is one of the companies that is showing interest in this project. Recently, a trip was organized directly for a potential partner to Navoi airport to familiarize with the capabilities of the strategic transport hub and the conditions for creating such an enterprise”, commented Uzbekistan Airports.
The new joint venture is planned to service aircraft of any modification belonging to domestic airlines and accept orders from foreign air carriers. The enterprise’s capacity will allow simultaneous repair work on one narrow-body and two wide-body aircraft. As for personnel selection, along with foreign specialists, about 150 local employees will be attracted to the enterprise.
