Uzbekistan – a visa-free travel destination for Chinese tourists and business representatives

As part of the results of the China – Central Asia Summit, an open dialogue between the officials of Uzbekistan and China took place in Tashkent.

The event was attended by the Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change Aziz Abdukhakimov, members of the delegation led by the Party Secretary of China’s Shaanxi province Zhao Yide, representatives of the tourism sector operating in Uzbekistan.

The parties discussed developing cooperation in tourism between China and Uzbekistan, a bilateral increase in the tourist flow, and the promotion of the tourism potential of Uzbekistan in China. Foreign specialists got acquainted with the reforms carried out in recent years in the tourism sector of Uzbekistan and the results achieved.

It was noted that China is one of the strategic partners in the tourism sector of Uzbekistan. Tourists and representatives of Chinese business circles can visit Uzbekistan without a visa. The parties participate actively in significant tourism exhibitions, forums, and fairs in the two states. Thanks to the annual business meetings, new exciting opportunities for cooperation are opening up for representatives of the profile industries of the two countries.

Following the dialogue, the Chinese guests were invited to participate in the 25th Anniversary Session of the UNWTO General Assembly to be held on October 16-20 this year in the city of Samarkand. It was reported that investment and educational forums related to the tourism sector will be held within the framework of the General Assembly session. The investment forum will present promising investment and infrastructure projects of the territories of Uzbekistan and the countries of Central Asia. The educational forum will consider best practices and relevant issues for preparing the next generation for the tourism industry.

The Chinese side familiarized the event participants with the culture and tourism of Shaanxi Province. It was also noted that to consider new opportunities and promote the cultural and tourism potential of Uzbekistan in Shaanxi province, it is necessary to implement a project to install a model of Registan Square as a symbol of Samarkand.
