As President Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted, our main task is to enhance a person’s honor and dignity, ensure people’s interests, and form a strong economy.
In each speech of the Head of state, particular emphasis is placed on supporting the population in need of social protection, developing the social sphere, improving housing and communal services, and raising the population’s standard of living.
Indeed, most of the documents adopted in recent years are aimed at the social protection of the population, with particular attention paid to creating new jobs, increasing incomes, and supporting children and youth, women and older people, and citizens in need of help. Measures have been identified to raise the social sphere to a new level.
As of August 1, 2023, in Uzbekistan, the number of persons provided with pensions and benefits is more than 4.4 million, of which 3.2 million are old-age pensions. The number of disabled pensioners is 430.2 thousand citizens. 232.1 thousand citizens receive survivor’s pensions, and 623.7 thousand people receive benefits.
Special attention in the Uzbekistan 2030 Strategy is paid to the issue of social protection. This document defines creating a social protection system as one of the main directions that fully meets the population’s requirements and international standards and decent conditions for every citizen to demonstrate their potential.
The Strategy defines tasks in implementing reforms to provide social services and reduce poverty until 2030.
Among them are a radical improvement in the system of providing social services, the introduction of a new system to support persons with disabilities, the creation of an optimal and suitable environment for them, and the strengthening of the support system for women.
With a radical improvement in the system of providing professional social services, all those in need will be fully covered by the social protection system. For this purpose, the information system “Unified Register of Social Protection” has been created to identify families in need and provide them with targeted assistance.
Trips are organized annually for more than a million senior citizens to historical cities, sacred places of worship, and the country’s beautiful corners to support older people comprehensively. From now on, the coverage of activities carried out within the framework of youth support programs will be increased to at least 30 percent.
It is planned to reduce the unemployment rate to 7 percent by ensuring stable and effective employment for the working population, including youth and people with disabilities. Insurance payments for pregnancy and childbirth, temporary disability, termination of activities of a legal entity-employer, lack of funds for payments to a liquidated enterprise, and insurance payments for industrial accidents will be realized through a system of guaranteed social insurance.
In conclusion, it should be noted that by ensuring the implementation of these tasks, a social protection system that fully meets the population’s requirements and international standards will be created.
However, implementing these tasks depends not only on the state, but also on ourselves, be it a manager, a worker, an employee – we all must feel responsible and conscientiously fulfill our duties.
