Uzbek scientists created a new variety of soft wheat
Scientists of the Institute of Genetics and Experimental Biology of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan have created a variety of soft wheat “Pakhlavon”.
According to the Academy of Sciences, the original seeds of the Pakhlavon variety were multiplied in 2021 in Bayaut district of Syrdarya region. An average harvest of 55 kg/ha was obtained, 280 tons of super-elite seeds were prepared, which were sown in an elite farm in this region for a harvest in 2022.
The “Pakhlavon” is resistant to a shortage of irrigation water and soil salinity, moderately resistant to rust diseases. Its difference from other varieties is that it is adapted to local conditions, mid-season, medium height (100-110 cm), medium-resistant to lodging, has high baking quality, high-quality straw, soft straw, which makes it possible to use it as feed in animal husbandry.
