Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov has met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran Hossien Amir Abdollahian, in Tehran.

The parties agreed to continue joint efforts to bring the trade turnover to $1 billion in the near future, as well as to develop investment partnership, business exchanges and ties between the peoples of Uzbekistan and Iran.

As previously reported, the President of Uzbekistan signed a resolution “On the approval of an international treaty”. By Article 22 of the Law “On International Treaties of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, a Memorandum of Obligations of the Islamic Republic of Iran was approved to obtain the status of a member state of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), signed on September 16, 2022, in the city of Samarkand during a summit chaired by Uzbekistan.
