Uzbek Culture Center to be opened in Korea

A leadership of Gwangsan-gu district of the city of Gwangju in the Republic of Korea is holding negotiations with local managers in various regions of Uzbekistan.

In Samarkand region, the guests met with representatives of the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage and discussed the prospects for cooperation.

“During the dialogue with the delegation from Korea, the current issues facing us were discussed, and agreements were reached”, said Dilmurod Nasimov, Vice Rector of the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage. “Our university has an international status, so we pay special attention to relations with foreign partners. The university has almost 3,000 students studying in 9 undergraduate programs and 10 graduate programs, 62 of them are foreign citizens from 16 countries. As part of the meeting, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed with Honam University, located in the Gwangsan-gu district. According to the document, a center for Korean language and culture will be established at our university, and a center for Uzbek language and culture, respectively, at Honam University”.

During the talks held at the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, the parties exchanged views on effectively using existing opportunities, organizing cultural centers, and exchanging teachers and students.

“The university is private but supported by the state”, said the President of Honam University Park Sang Cheol. “We have 9,200 students studying in forty areas. Our main specializations are management, hotel services, and tourism. I am convinced that cooperation with the Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage will develop because we have almost the same areas of education”.

During the visit, guests from Korea got acquainted with the sights of Samarkand.
