The novel by Uzbek writer Shahodat Ulug “Jayhun epkinlari yohud Jaloliddin Manguberdi qissasi” (“The Breath of Jayhun or the story about Jaloliddin Manguberdi”) will be translated into Dutch and Turkish.
To discuss future cooperation, a videoconference was organized by Shahodat Ulug with the Chairman of Kardeş Kalemler Magazine and the Eurasian Writers Union Yakup Ömeroğlu.
The meeting was also attended by writer Ahmet Suat Ari from the Netherlands and a prominent figure of culture and arts Burhanettin Carlak.
The two-volume novel was written in 2014 and published by Yangi Asr Avlodi Publishing House. Since then, it has been translated into various languages and published in several countries. In 2015, the novel became a finalist of the international literary competition Open Eurasia and Central Asia Book Forum & Literature Festival, in London.
The historical-epic work “Jayhun epkinlari yohud Jaloliddin Manguberdi qissasi” is one of the most striking works of the writer. The book, written in a style imbued with poetic passions, leads the reader through the glorious and at the same time mournful pages of the history of Khorezm Kingdom, which at one time stretched from the Pamirs to the Tian Shan, from the Persian Gulf to the Euphrates and the Tigris.
At the event, participants also agreed to hold an online event in February this year on the occasion of the 581st anniversary of Alisher Navoi’s birth.
It is planned to invite scientists, writers, literary critics and admirers of Alisher Navoi's poetry from Uzbekistan, the Netherlands, Turkey and other countries to the meeting.
