“Green Space” – in action

Two hundred fruit tree seedlings were planted as part of the autumn season of the Nationwide Project “Yashil Makon” (“Green Space”) in the garden of Uzbekistan National News Agency, created on the territory of the remote mahalla “Nakurt” of Payariq district in Samarkand region.

The garden was founded in 2021 as part of the “Yashil Makon” project in cooperation with the Payariq District Hokimiyat and the Uzbekistan National News Agency.

– In three years, more than 2,000 trees were planted and grown in the garden, – UzA gardener Farkhod Dehkonov said.

– The soil here is hilly. We take water for irrigation from an artesian well. Despite the difficulties, watering was carried out promptly, and the seedlings were well established.

There were still 80 acres of free land around, and with the assistance of the Hokimiyat, almonds and apricots were planted on these lands, and the garden was expanded. We are also planning to grow grapes and create vineyards.

The Hokim of Payariq district, representatives of the Hokimiyat, and activists of “Nakurt” mahalla took an active part in planting seedlings together with UzA employees.

– During the current autumn season, it is planned to plant 556 thousand seedlings of fruit and ornamental trees in the district, – the Hokim of Payariq district, Isroil Jabborov said. – Currently, this process continues at all enterprises, organizations, and mahallas. First, 20 gardens of four sectors and district organizations were laid out.

Two hundred seedlings were distributed in mahallas. When planting seedlings, the composition of the soil and the availability of water are taken into account. We grow almonds, apricots, and rose hips in the steppe areas.

Wild roses were planted along the roadsides in “Nakurt” mahalla to create a green belt. The UzA garden in this village will become one of the most beautiful gardens in the district.
